Activities

The activities of the Cambridge Network address a wide Activities to address a range of member needs.
Equal emphasis is placed on 'physical' and on 'virtual' activities. Similarly, 'local' and 'global' business processes attract the same level of attention
Physical/Global

  • The Corporate Gateway is a made-to-measure introduction service for companies based far away from Cambridge. Its purpose is to build relationships with market orientated players who, in turn, source in Cambridge the potential 'cores' for their future products and services. It takes place in April and October.

  • Cambridge Network in the City (sponsored by Taylor Wessing) - for venture capitalists and investment bankers, provides a platform for Cambridge Network member companies seeking to build relationships with these communities. Each year we deliver a number of these events, with a track record of stimulating investment.

    Physical/Local

  • Open Meetings attract 200 or more key players from the Cambridge Network membership, drawn together by a high profile speaker and the prospect of extending and refreshing their personal networks. The meetings, which attract sponsorship, also provide new members with the opportunity to give 'elevator pitches' to tell other members about themselves. We also run some smaller Open Lectures which have a more academic slant.

  • Cafe Networking has an informal drop-in format. The meetings, which typically attract around 100 participants, are themed to attract members with specific interests and we facilitate introductions between appropriate partners with coloured badges, profiling etc.

  • Making the most of membership We run lunchtime sessions at diverse business and science parks to help new members to use our website to post profiles, jobs etc - and learn about some of our activities. Contact admin@cambridgenetwork.co.uk to sign up for the next session.

  • Special Interest Groups respond to member needs. Currently we have SIGs looking at skills, USA, Germany, China, India, IT infrastructure, Healthcare, HR/Training, Cleantech, and Financial Directors

  • The Learning Collaboration is our scheme enabling members to participate in professional training run in-house by other member companies. To find out how your business can benefit, contact samara@thelearningcollaboration.com

  • We also champion, stimulate and support worthy activities delivered by other groups.

    Virtual/Global

  • The most visited part of our site, the Member Directory, provides powerful, searchable, 'know who' (try it to find the email and location of key people and companies). Behind the scenes, each directory entry points at all other entries - improving the rating with search engines.

  • The Virtual Press Room is a pool for press releases from all members. It is designed to attract the attention of the world's media for 'Cambridge ideas which change the world'.

    Virtual/Local

  • Our high-tech Jobs market is one of the strongest in the region. It is complemented by a CV Directory allowing authors to be e-mailed without knowing their identities. Together these provide a proven, cost-effective process for filling skills gaps and maintaining high employment.

  • The Events diary contains not only our own events but also those organised by members and other relevant organisations. Register online for Cambridge Network events to secure your place.

  • The 4R's Survey enables all corporate members to benchmark themselves anonymously against their peers on Remuneration, Rent, Recruitment and Raising Money.

Remember! All activities delivered by Cambridge Network are free to any member of staff of a Corporate Member organistion.

    Ideas

The Cambridge Network seeks ideas for new activities, projects and events and members are welcome to submit their suggestions for consideration by the board.

However, all projects must be independently funded, via contribution or sponsorship, and stand or fall on their own merits.

Cambridge Network has received a great deal of (unsolicited) feedback over the years. And to prove that we value feedback of all kinds, and are prepared to allow our members to air their views, we've included some of the not-so-good comments, as well as some of the good ones...
