![]() East of England Development AgencyThe East of England Development Agency is a regional development agency, established to help further economic growth and prosperity and to improve the quality of life in rural and urban communities.
The East of England Development Agency (EEDA) is one of nine Regional Development Agencies established by government in 1999. EEDA is the driving force behind sustainable economic growth and regeneration in the East of England. Our task is to improve the region's economic performance and ensure the East of England remains one of the UK's top performing regions. EEDA is adopting a new way of working which emphasises our role as a regional leader and catalyst and which will help us influence the £25 billion of public spending in the East of England. With a budget of £90 million in 2004/5 EEDA's challenge is to deliver sustainable economic growth with a budget that equals only 0.1 per cent of the region's gross domestic product (GDP). EEDA's roles include: - Principle advocate - for the development of the region - Strategic navigator - influencing major strategic change - Convenor - facilitating key regional partnerships - Expert - consulting, advising and problem-solving - Mental adventurer - innovator of changes that others could not undertake - Commissioner - of investment programmes, joint ventures and sister organisations - Delivery manager - of projects and programmes in pursuit of the roles above.
