Main contacts: Addenbrooke's is a prestigious NHS Foundation Trust based in Cambridge. Our Trust name is Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. With a budget of £300 million and around 1087 beds, it employs nearly 7,000 staff dedicated to the provision of a wide range of clinical and non-clinical services. The Trust's '2020 vision' is a series of proposals designed to develop Addenbrooke's as a major centre for treatment and research on a European scale. The Trust is a leading international centre for biomedical research and medical education, and shares its site with the University of Cambridge, the Medical Research Council, the Wellcome Trust, the British Heart Foundation and Glaxo SmithKline. The Hospital is a national and regional centre for cancer services, liver transplants, organ transplantation, neurosciences and genetics; for example 85 kidney transplants were carried out in 2001. Addenbrooke's is the local district hospital for the approximately 0.5 million people who live in the Cambridge sub-region and the surrounding district. It provides a comprehensive acute and maternity services . In 2002-2003, 55,168 men, women and children were treated as inpatients on hospital wards.
