Formed in 2003, it was founded by engineers from AT&T Laboratories Cambridge combined with a veteran team of business entrepreneurs. Ubisense now employees over 80 people, is headquartered in Cambridge UK and has employees in the USA, Canada, Germany, Belgium, Spain and Singapore. Ubisense has developed a unique innovative world-class Precise Real-Time Location System, based on leading edge ultra-wideband radio technology. This revolutionary system offers hitherto unprecedented levels of performance across enterprise and campus wide areas. The UWB hardware tagging and sensor system is complemented by an extensive distributed software platform that supports ease of integration with many other existing tracking technologies, such as passive RFID, GPS, etc. The software platform enables location data to be normalised and presented in a coherent fashion to higher level applications. It provides tools for rapid application development and delivers support for integration to numerous existing enterprise systems.
