The University innovation network Research collaborations and technology transfer take place at a variety of levels throughout the University, the city and in the industrial work place, with a number of organisations involved in facilitating the process. The Research Services Division promotes the commercial use of Cambridge University's research base through collaborative research programmes with industry, licensing of intellectual property, formation of start-up companies, and consultancies. The Technology Transfer Office (formerly the Wolfson Industrial Liaison Office) was founded in 1970 with an endowment from the Wolfson Foundation. Cambridge Enterprise brings the University's existing commercialisation activities previously performed by the Technology Transfer Office, the University Challenge Fund and the Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre, together in one organisation, to enhance the University of Cambridge's contribution to society through knowledge transfer from the University to the community. As the University's largest dedicated unit for professional and executive programmes, Cambridge Programme for Industry (CPI), designs and delivers world-class learning programmes nationally and internationally, focussing on issues of leadership and sustainable development.
