Business Mobility - Cambridge Network IT Special Interest Group

An exciting presentation and discussions on currently one of the hottest topics in the IT sector: business mobility.

The headline speaker for this 17 May event is Richard Jones, Development Director for Anglia Business Solutions, who was recently awarded IT Developer of the Year 2006 by The British Computer Society. Making business information available dynamically on mobile devices is currently one of the hottest topics in the IT sector. According to market research company IDC, this market reached $1.2 billion in 2005 and is forecast to grow to $3.5 billion by 2010.

In this session Richard Jones will discuss the challenges around providing mobile access to business critical applications. Delegates attending this event will hear how the latest technologies are being used to provide remote access to applications such as business management and QC solutions, customer relationship management or project management solutions. Richard will also discuss the advantages and efficiency benefits of providing remote workers with facilities to submit timesheet entries or expenses and mileage claims.This IT Special Interest Group presentation will provide some excellent examples of real world applications in action which have yielded stunning returns on investments for the clients involved, with Richard discussing some of the challenges that have been faced over the last three years in the design, development and deployment of such solutions. Attendees will gain real value from the session by hearing some of the pitfalls involved and how to avoid them.

The evening's second presenter is Michael Elliott, Managing Director of Over-C, who will be speaking on the subject of 'Near Field Communications - Developing the Mobile Future'. Over-C specialises in the design and development of advanced web application software tightly integrated with Near Field Communication (NFC) mobile phones for businesses operating a mobile workforce in the service sector.

The meeting will be held at Harston Mill, Royston Road, Harston on Thursday 17 May, opening with registration at 18:00. The presentation and discussions will be followed by a networking reception, kindly sponsored by Anglia Business Solutions.
