![]() Cambridge Network LimitedOpen Meeting: 'Now is the Hour' - the story of businesses that started up during the last downturn The Cambridge Cluster has experienced several downturns, and on reflection some of its best business successes have been born out of apparent disaster or extreme hardship. Start date/time:
18:00 Wednesday 6 May 2009
End date/time: 21:00 Wednesday 6 May 2009 Venue: The Gillespie Centre at Clare College, Queens Road, Cambridge CB3 9AJ Organiser email: vicky.faupel@cambridgenetwork.co.uk Organiser tel: 01223 422363 In the light of this we have brought together a group of Cambridge people with relevant experience of such situations to inspire and inform business leaders, investors and aspiring start ups (as well as those with the ambition to be in this situation in the next business cycle!). Our Open Meeting format brings together 'elevator pitches' (to include the Judge Business School) from Cambridge Network member organisations, leading speakers, a chaired Q&A, and a best in region networking opportunity over wine and buffet. We are delighted to have won as speakers:
- Jonathan Milner (pictured), Group Chief Executive, Abcam. Abcam was founded in 1998 to supply a global resource for scientists to find and purchase high quality research antibodies; now with an annualised turnover in excess of £24 million and recognised as one of the leading companies in its field.
- Paul Webster, Lead Architect-Hardware Systems, Ubisense. Ubisense is an award winning technology company - internationally renowned for its pioneering work in Precise Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), and founded by engineers from AT&T Laboratories Cambridge combined with a veteran team of business entrepreneurs.
The subsequent discussion and Q&A will be followed by our usual networking buffet and drinks reception, and we have the brand new Gillespie Centre at Clare College as our venue for the evening. The meeting will start at 6pm with registration and coffee, with the presentations commencing at 6.30pm. The event will conclude at 9pm.
Participation is free to Individual and Corporate Members of the Cambridge Network, including anyone working for or studying at the University of Cambridge, Anglia Ruskin University, and the Open University.
