Start date/time:  18:00 Tuesday 17 November 2009
End date/time:  20:30 Tuesday 17 November 2009
Venue:  The Trinity Centre, 24 Cambridge Science Park, Milton Road, Cambridge CB4 0FN
Organiser name:  Cambridge Network

This Cambridge Network Cleantech SIG event will be discussing the subject of 'Waste as a Resource - Cambridge technologies realising the value of our throw-away world'.

Not only are the pressures of the ‘landfill culture’ becoming ever more intense and expensive, other legislative and societal changes are joining with economic value drivers to enable technology developments in the 'waste space' to be increasingly important.

Speakers at this meeting will include representatives from

·         Enval, a University of Cambridge spin-out developing its business for recovering value from plastic/metal laminates,
·         Bio Group, based near Ely with a unique hybrid Anaerobic Digestion/In-Vessel-Composting plant producing gas, electricity and soils and planning to roll out many such waste processing units across the UK (pictured is Dr John Mullett, Group Development Director), and
·         Green PB, a Cambridge University spin-out which has developed a low energy and environmentally-friendly way of recycling the toxic waste from lead batteries.

The Cleantech SIG aims to provide a platform where mainstream technology members of the Cambridge Network can interact with those companies focused more specifically on environmental solutions, for the benefit of both. This meeting will be of interest to anyone who believes that technology can be used to address the ‘waste’ problems increasingly obvious around the world, whether organic/urban wastes or more specialist waste products which can be redeemed rather than wasted.

The venue for this meeting is the Trinity Centre on the Cambridge Science Park, and the evening will start with registration and coffee at 18:00.

The event is free to staff from Cambridge Network corporate member organisations - to attend please follow this registration linkUpdate 17 Nov: registration for this event is now closed. Please contact vicky.faupel@cambridgenetwork.co.uk if you would like any further information.
