In recent years, technological advances have made possible to carry out diagnostic testing in hospital wards, critical care units, general practitioner offices and home settings.

This trend will be reviewed and discussed from a clinical and industrial perspective, highlighting medical needs and drivers, technology opportunities, benefits and challenges for widespread adoption, with examples of novel diagnostic options.

Speakers at the event will be:
  • Dr. Shane Gordon (pictured), Associate Medical Director of NHS East of England: NHS East of England was established on 1 July 2006 as the Strategic Health Authority for the East of England, covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk and Suffolk.
  • Dr Mark O'Connell, R&D Director of Probe Scientific: A medical device company that has launched its first device, the MicroEye®,for intravenous microdialysis enabling automated, continuous and online monitoring of key biomarkers without the need for blood withdrawal.

The Healthcare SIG aims to provide a platform where mainstream technology members of the Cambridge Network can interact with those companies focused more specifically on healthcare issues, for the benefit of both.

The venue for this meeting is TTP on the Melbourn Science Park, and the evening will start with registration at 17:30. The event is free to staff from Cambridge Network corporate member organisations.
