For many businesses, innovation is still regarded as being all about creating or exploiting new technologies. More and more, however, finding the right business model is seen as the secret to sustained and profitable growth. Products, customer insight, profit model, business operations and, yes, technologies are all in the mix. AirBnB, Hilti and in the more distant past, ARM, are great examples of this.
In the first session, Gordon Soutar, of The Innovation Practice, will provide guidance on how to look beyond new technologies and products to find ideas for new sources of growth and how combining these can lead to a better offer and more sustainable competitive advantage.
In the second session, Ludo Chapman, of The Innovation Practice will talk about a key aspect of creating and testing new ideas – interviewing customers to understand their problems and needs. For a variety of reasons, many startups and established businesses struggle with talking to customers. This short session offers concrete guidance on how to get the best out of customer interviews.
