New Zealand's IT Minister visits Science ParkThe Hon.
Maurice Williamson, New Zealand's Minister of Research, Science & Technology and Information Technology, will visit the Cambridge Science Park today (27 May). He will be met at the Trinity Centre by Dr Jeremy Fairbrother, Director of the park, who will brief him about the Science Park and will discuss issues of interest to the Minister.
The Minister and his party will also visit The Quillion Group who have recently moved to the park. Quillion specialises in data warehousing and management for large enterprises with major plant installations (such as chemical plants or oil platforms). Quillion has recently completed an outstandingly successful project to provide a complete datastore and management system for the Shearwater Oil and Gas Field in the North Sea. Its technology is rated by US analysts of the oil industry sector as 'best of breed' for the industry and it will shortly be opening a second US office in Houston, Texas. Later, the Minister is being entertained to a lunch hosted by Mrs Anne Lonsdale, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the University, at the Graduate Centre where he will meet many of Cambridge University's most distinguished New Zealanders. He will then visit the Sanger Centre at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus before returning to London. See also: Copyright Cambridge Network 2010
