![]() Antenova LimitedDate: 31/10/02 Antenova loans mobile phone collection to HNF Museum, GermanyAntenova CEO Dr Graham Cooley was a guest speaker at the grand opening of a series of exhibitions on the evolution of communication at the museum of History in Paderborn, Germany.
Dr Cooley has lent some 120 mobile phones from his personal collection to the Heinz Nixdorf Museums Forum (HNF) in Paderborn. The phones are now featured in the foyer of the HNF and constitute one of the largest such collections in Europe.
Dr Cooley began his phone collection some years ago. He has a passionate interest in post-war design and avidly collects mass-produced consumer artefacts of the mid to late 20th Century. This hobby has led him to accumulate one of the largest post-war British glass collections. His mobile phone collection spans 13 years of handset and antenna development, with some of the earlier examples originally being sold for up to 2,000 and weighing as much as 4kg. Technology has since seen incredible advances and there are plenty of examples to illustrate these developments, including some very recent models weighing as little as 68g. 'I have dedicated much of my spare time over the last few years to collecting consumer artefacts and I was delighted to have the opportunity to loan part of my collection which is now displayed in such impressive surroundings, to the HNF museum in Paderborn,' says Dr Cooley. Dr. Kurt Beiersdoerfer, the CEO of the HNF museum said: 'We are delighted and very grateful to have such a comprehensive record of the history of mobile phones which should appeal to a wide age range. This collection is an essential part of the exhibition 'from messenger boy to modern day communication' prepared by the museum of History and HNF in Paderborn'. Antenova was formed in 1999 to commercialise a revolutionary directional antenna technology, which increases the capacity and performance of wireless networks.
