Matt has already been at the forefront of some exciting online developments, including his most recent appointment as chief technical officer at MyFaveShop, a web start-up founded by Maurice Saatchi. MyFaveShop is a new concept in online shopping based on innovative technology – it builds on the popularity of ‘social networking’ to create a virtual shopping mall of hundreds of retailers and brands chosen by the shoppers themselves.

Before this he was a distributed development director at Betfair, the world's leading online betting exchange. Driven by its own cutting-edge technology, Betfair enables punters to choose their own odds and bet against each other, even after an event has started. Betfair now processes 5 million transactions a day and more than 300 bets a second and has a Queen’s Award for Enterprise.

Matt, a Cambridge University mathematics graduate, was attracted to the challenge of building the next generation of Internet search technology:
