Open Day will showcase new technology company, Plarion Ltd

Plarion manufactured microstructurePlarion Ltd, a new technology consultancy based in Melbourn, are holding an Open Day to demonstrate their key technology capabilities in the areas of thin films, micro- and nano-structures.

Plarion was formed in collaboration with TTP Group plc, in February 2009, acquiring technology and assets from Plasmon Ltd which went into administration last year. The company comprises 10 of the former employees of Plasmon, including the team who brought to market the world's highest areal density optical storage media. The formation of Plarion Ltd has meant retaining in Cambridgeshire some key technologies related to thin films, optical devices and materials.

Bob Longman, CEO of Plarion said "I am very pleased to announce that Plarion has completed the set-up of our new facilities on the Melbourn Science Park.  Plarion has a world-class group of scientists and engineers with a track record of taking concepts from development into mass manufacturing. We have acquired the assets necessary to apply this experience to a wide range of industries who are looking for rapid development and low cost manufacturing."

Plarion will be supplying consultancy and product development services based on their experience of optical media manufacturing and test systems and will be looking for other opportunities to apply these skills in microstructure manufacturing of optical surfaces, medical devices, other applications.

Cambridge Network members interested in finding out more about Plarion and its technology are invited to the Open Day, which takes place this Friday (May 29th) from 1:30-4pm.
