Mr Mohib is currently the director general of information technology at the American University of Afghanistan. A social entrepreneur and political activist, he was senior advisor and a campaign manager to the presidential candidate, Ashraf Ghani, who came fourth in the recent elections.

It's been eight years since the Taliban were driven from power in Afghanistan and guests are invited to hear Mr Mohib's view of the politics of contemporary Afghanistan, and the role and involvement of the international community.

He will also share his own personal experience about post-election confusion in the country, and what life is like everyday for ordinary Afghans as the country sits poised on the brink of a fragile democracy.

ACASS aims to promote and encourage knowledge and scholarship in all aspects of Afghanistan from earliest times right up to the present. The society will focus in particular on the study of the country's culture and society, including the history, languages, literature, people and the arts of contemporary Afghanistan. It also provides a platform for dialogue on a wide range of issues.

The lecture, followed by a Q & A session, will be held at the Garden Room in the Library Building at St Edmund's College, Mount Pleasant, Cambridge CB3 0BN, from 5.30-6.30 pm today (Friday, 23 October). All are welcome.
