ACIS introduce acisInform and Solar IBIS to Kent County Council

Kent County Council has awarded ACIS a multiyear contract for the supply, installation, commissioning and maintenance of ACIS real time information displays.

This significant award includes county-wide provision of innovative real time information displays at bus stops, at interchanges and within shopping centres. In addition to providing real time journey updates the new displays will also show dynamic images and information using acisInform for content management. This project marks another milestone in the continuing expansion of the successful ACIS real time system across the South East of England.

Kent County Council works closely with its stakeholders including bus operating companies Arriva and Stagecoach, in building a modern, integrated, accessible and sustainable public transport network. Kent prides itself on a carbon friendly approach and the commitment to install solar real time information passenger displays is a significant landmark project for ACIS which supports the UK Government policy that focuses on the promotion of a 'greener' environment.

The deployment of acisInform marks ACIS entry into the digital media market. acisInform is the first choice content management solution that enables the display of passenger information for bus, rail, and ferry. In addition, it has the ability to display 3rd party information feeds including news, traffic, weather, parking and a host of other useful data. The acisInform platform is equally suited to a simple one off display deployment in a doctors surgery, and to a high volume deployment of thousands of displays linked to a single server, all sharing the same data. acisInform incorporates both content and display management, which means a user can control both the information and the target displays all from one central hub.

Sue Westwood, Kent County Council said: “ACIS are helping to integrate an innovative solution for the delivery a new Real Time Information System across Kent. Part of this process is to deliver new solar power signs to help reduce our carbon footprint and revenue costs, whilst improving the information we provide to our customers”.

Dan Sandhu, ACIS CEO said “this represents a significant advancement for ACIS while addressing the needs of local authorities and supporting the UK Government policy which focuses on the promotion of a 'greener' environment. Our real time solutions increase passenger confidence within the Intelligent Transport Systems space, to encourage more people to use public transport and support the sustainable development of best in class public transport networks”.
