Deloitte without a degree? Apprenticeship scheme opening doors to students

With A-Level results now releasing, Deloitte’s BrightStart higher apprenticeship programme is a smart choice for school leavers leaping into the world of work. The BrightStart apprenticeship is an earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship, with the chance to gain professional and degree level qualifications, and was recently ranked in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employer list.

The firm will welcome over 300 BrightStart apprentices in September in 14 offices across the UK.

Jackie Henry, managing partner for People and Purpose at Deloitte, said:

We’re exceptionally proud of our apprentices and are looking forward to welcoming the latest cohort to Deloitte this September.

“Our apprentices are a talented and curious group of people from diverse backgrounds, and they bring with them fresh approaches and new ideas that make a real impact for our clients and our firm. They have some exciting opportunities waiting for them and we’ll be helping them to build the skills they need to succeed in a rapidly changing workplace.”

Jessica Jones, head of early careers recruitment, said:

“We encourage applications from talented students from a range of backgrounds and with different experiences to best serve our clients. We’re looking for people who want to make a difference to society.

“We are proud of our apprentice scheme which can switch on a person’s potential and help them forge a brilliant career. We want people with motivation and drive, and we’ll teach them the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. Our aspiration for our apprentices is the same as our graduates; that one day they will make it to partner."

Amrit Bhambra, BrightStart apprentice

Amrit, 20, from Southall in London, joined Deloitte in 2021 and was one of the first BrightStart apprentices to join Deloitte Legal following the launch of the new legal apprenticeships in 2020.

“As soon as I started the apprenticeship, I was already learning on the job. I feel like being part of the BrightStart scheme is giving me experience that will make me stand out from the rest and I’m gaining so much confidence in a work environment.”

Kai Constantine, BrightStart apprentice alumni

Kai, 24, from London, is a senior consultant in Deloitte’s risk advisory business. He joined in 2016 and completed the BrightStart apprenticeship scheme in 2019.

“The thing I loved most about the BrightStart apprenticeship was meeting new people, all with different backgrounds and experiences. It was fascinating learning from them, which is a key part of the hands-on experience of being a BrightStart.

“There was a lot of pressure to go to university after school, but I’m glad that I pursued the areas I was most interested in and dived in with an apprenticeship. Now I’m in my dream job in tech and cyber!”

BrightStarts will be based in Aberdeen, Belfast, Birmingham, Cambridge, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Reading and St. Albans.

Applications for 2023 will open in September 2022. Students are encouraged to register their interest now to receive further support and guidance on the application process when the roles open.
