Healthera launches digital health management platform

Healthera Ltd, a digital health management company, today announced the commercial launch of a Health Management App, Pharmacy Suite and a medicines and adherence analytics portal that will allow patients, with support from local pharmacies, to actively contribute to managing their medication, improve adherence and more generally, encourage proactive healthcare.

In developing the Healthera platform, the company has worked with pharmacies, pharmacy system providers, CCGs and patients with the aim to better manage repeat prescriptions, cut waste, generate insights into patient medicine taking and provide simple, effective methods to improve medication compliance.

Over 50% of UK population is currently on prescriptions, but only 16% of patients who are on a new medicine take it as prescribed, experience no problems and receive as much information as they need. Almost a third of patients become non-adherent 10 days after starting a medicine – of these, 55% don’t realise they are not taking their medicines correctly and the rest intentionally miss their doses. Poor medicines management accounts for over £4 billion of medicine wastage for NHS England and 3-4% of hospital admissions every year.

By scanning and interpreting information contained on a QR-coded medicine label, the Healthera App acts as smart medicine diary for patients by automatically creating a medicines schedule, analysing medicine taking patterns, recording any medicine related concerns and helping to gain pharmacist and GP’s attention when misuse or non-adherence of medication occurs.

The Healthera Pharmacy Suite combines a patient management platform (Healthera Connect™) with pharmacy software (Healthera Station) allowing the Pharmacist to directly interact with patients via the Healthera App. With access to real time medicines data, pharmacists can offer advice on medication, answer non-urgent medicine concerns and make recommendations for complimentary products and services. With Smart Health, a patient prescription and adherence analytics portal, GPs will have the benefit of accessing their patients’ medicine schedule, detailed adherence report and medical notes, thereby making data-oriented medical decisions quicker during appointments.

Jin Dai, VP of Product at Healthera commented: “We have designed our product interface to be familiar and refreshing. Patients, pharmacists and GPs have been heavily involved in the product design, we have benchmarked against the highest digital industry standards and introduced a more   modern feel to pharmacy software.”

Quintus Liu, CEO of Healthera added: “Following successful product trials we are confident that Healthera is leading a new era of connected digital health by turning pharmacies into digital ‘personal healthcare hubs’ and empowering patients to make informed decisions about their medicine. This is great news for pharmacists and patients, carers and GPs, and the wider healthcare economy.”

The Healthera App and Patient Management platform will be released on 25 September at The Pharmacy Show, NEC Birmingham, UK (25 - 26 September 2016), Stand PB38.
