Repositive launches autism related data collection

Repositive, a software company developing novel tools to improve discovery and access to human genomic research data, has launched its latest Specialised Data Collection, this time focusing on Autism.

The Autism Data Collection contains over 6,500 datasets from nine different data sources, and includes whole exome sequencing data from Autism patients, data sets describing the role of microRNA's in Autism, and data sets covering the role of gut microbiota in autism.

The largest proportion of the Autism data on Repositive is whole exome sequencing data found in the SRA (Sequencing Read Archive), a partnership between Baylor College of Medicine and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. Alongside this, there are a number of miRNA-Seq datasets, which are thought to have a role in Autism pathophysiology through dysregulation. In addition, there over 150 datasets from gut microbiota samples from individuals involved in Autism studies.

Fiona Nielsen, CEO of Repositive said: "Autism spectrum disorders are a wide category of conditions, which, although known to be highly heritable, are poorly understood from a genetics perspective. We hope that with the development of this specialised data collection, we can help researchers better understand the basis for development of autism, and develop new approaches to both understanding and managing the autism and associated conditions."

The release of the latest specialised collection follows a number of other launches of community-enriched data collections including Microbiome, Personal Genomes, Population and Methylation data collections. The Specialised collections were created as part of Repositive's ongoing mission to make data as easily discoverable and accessible as possible, and ensure that scientists can quickly access the data required for any genomic research project.

Repositive are experts in the provision of efficient access to genomic data. Through their platform, researchers and scientists are able to quickly and easily access data from a range of global sources, and securely make their data accessible to both internal and external collaborators. The Repositive platform enables researchers to interact with the research community to identify more relevant data, and benefit from the community feedback and data annotations. From their headquarters in Cambridge, the Repositive team of experts in genomics, data access policies and effective metadata management, also offer a range of services to corporate customers including large-scale enterprise solutions.
