State-of-the-art conference facilities launch this spring at Jesus College
A Cambridge College is celebrating the imminent completion of its new state-of-the-art conference facilities.
West Court at Jesus College will provide a multi-functional auditorium equipped with the latest communications technology to seat up to 180 delegates, a café bar pavilion with an outside terrace and the modern Brewery Room events space. It will also offer 27 luxury hotel-standard bedrooms which are available all-year round.
The new Lecture Hall is designed to operate as a multi-functional auditorium for lectures, conferences, general meetings and high-level presentations. It has retractable seating, dual screen display facility, integrated house and stage lighting and professional audio and visual system solutions. The large 6m x 3.5m video wall and 4m x 2.5m projection screen with full HD multimedia projector, offer excellent display options for presentations, video conferencing, virtual meeting room applications and broadcasting. Also in West Court is the impressive Webb Library which can be used for a wide range of events from drinks receptions for 150 people to lectures for 75, the Bawden Room for smaller meetings and receptions and the traditional oak-panelled Dining Room for up to 54 guests for dinner, with a brand new kitchen close by.
Zoe Stubbings, Conference Manager said: “This Spring is an exciting time for us as we near the completion of West Court. Over the last year, we have introduced our clients to the new facilities and received very enthusiastic feedback, as well as bookings for future events.
“The West Court development will provide a home for academic symposia, conferences, lectures and debates to be used by the College community, conference guests and alumni. Of particular interest is the new Lecture Hall with cutting-edge AV, the hotel-standard bedrooms and the multi-use Webb Library with its stunning interior.”
Julian Huppert, the Director of the new Intellectual Forum at Jesus College, added: “The West Court redevelopment is very impressive. It will be the base for the Intellectual Forum and we look forward to welcoming people from around the University and the wider city, as well as across the country and overseas, to our wide range of events there. In addition, the cutting-edge technology in the centre will allow us to run many more varied events, with people able to take part remotely. We have already run events on crucial issues such as the future of work and the rise of Donald Trump, and have planned events on climate change, ageing and more.”
Jesus College embarked on the West Court development in 2014 by purchasing the Grade-II listed buildings belonging to its neighbours Wesley House. These have now been sensitively refurbished and reconfigured to provide additional facilities, with a landscaped court at the heart of the site.
The College offers a range of conference and events facilities located in historical buildings dating back to the eleventh century, as well as modern award-winning spaces. Dinners can be held in intimate private dining rooms for smaller groups from 16 to 34, through to larger gatherings of up to 150 in the Hall. There are 250 en-suite bedrooms for use in vacations, including those in Library Court and North Court which have been awarded the Quality in Tourism 5 Star accreditation by Visit England for the fifth year running.
