Arthur Rank Hospice Charity is best known for delivering vital care to over 1000 patients each year through a 24 bedded specialist palliative Inpatient Unit, day therapy and Hospice at Home services. However the range of services the Charity provides is much broader comprising of the Specialist Palliative Care Home Team, the Alan Hudson Day Treatment Centre in Wisbech, patient and family support (including counselling, bereavement and spiritual support), lymphoedema care, complementary therapy, pain management clinic, transport services and small grants; which collectively provide more than two thousand further appointments to patients.
The Education and Learning Department, who since 2015 have also delivered training with The Gold Standards Framework, ensure that the Hospice’s specialist knowledge and expertise are shared with other healthcare professionals, helping to increase the excellence of palliative care across the region.
To supplement the NHS contribution, the Charity are required to raise £2 million annually to fund the additional services provided by the Hospice.
On 11 November 2016, doors opened to patients at a new purpose built hospice in Shelford Bottom. Services and care are now delivered from a more spacious, attractive and therapeutic environment. The £10.5 million state-of-the-art build project has been designed with great consideration for the patient’s need, whilst the vastly improved facilities allow for increased service capacity2.

The Education Centre offers modern purpose built facilities for your training event, workshop, board meeting or conference. The Centre can cater for up to 90 people, has its own reception & a small break out area. Set in tranquil peaceful surroundings, this is an ideal location for your training or corporate event.

Arthur Rank Hospice’s home at Shelford Bottom was officially opened on Friday (19 January) by His Royal Highness, The Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward. The Earl enjoyed a tour of the Hospice – meeting patients, volunteers and staff – before unveiling an official plaque to mark the special occasion.

2016 saw the introduction of the Christmas Tree recycling scheme which raised more than £3000 for the Arthur Rank Hospice. Two years on, the scheme is flourishing and has surpassed expectations as this year an even greater number of trees than those collected in 2017 have already been registered.

Tomorrow (11 November 2017), it will be exactly a year since Arthur Rank Hospice opened its doors to patients at Shelford Bottom.
