Raspberry Pi Foundation

The Raspberry Pi Foundation is a UK-based charity that works to put the power of computing and digital making into the hands of people all over the world. We do this so that more people are able to harness the power of computing and digital technologies for work, to solve problems that matter to them, and to express themselves creatively.

We engage millions of young people in learning computing and digital making skills through a thriving network of clubs and events, and through partnerships with youth organisations. We enable any school to offer students the opportunity to study computing and computer science through providing the best possible curriculum, resources, and training for teachers. We work to deepen our understanding of how young people learn about computing and digital making, and to use that knowledge to increase the impact of our own work and to advance the field of computing education. We make computing and digital making accessible to all through providing low-cost, high-performance single-board computers and free software.

We work to put the power of computing and digital making into the hands of people all over the world.

Coolest Projects national events are in-person and delivered by the Raspberry Pi Foundation or its partners across multiple countries. These events are temporarily on hold due to the pandemic, but we will bring them back as soon as practically possible.

Coolest Projects Global offers a high impact way to support a  global community of young creators. Your support enables a series of live stream broadcasts, workshops and community engagement programmes over five months leading up to Coolest Projects.

Code Club

A global network of free coding clubs for 9–13 year olds.

Our mission is to put a Code Club in every community in the world. We believe in learning through making, and our coding projects offer young people opportunities to be creative and to share their creations with each other.

Enthusiastic people + Local school or community space + Free resources = Code Club

What is Code Club?
A Code Club is an extra-curricular coding club for 9- to 13-year-olds.

A Code Club in every community
At Code Club, we think all children should have the opportunity to learn to code, no matter who they are or where they come from. We work with a global community of volunteers, educators, and partners to run free coding clubs where 9- to 13-year-olds can learn to build and share their ideas.

Our mission
Our mission is to put a Code Club in every community in the world. We believe in learning through making, and our coding projects offer young people opportunities to be creative and to share their creations with each other.
You can start a Code Club anywhere in the world! We also have local teams in the UK, Ireland, the USA, and India, and work closely with Code Club partners in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Croatia, France, Iraq, New Zealand, South Korea, and Ukraine to reach more young people, educators, and volunteers. You can see stories from the global community over on the Code Club blog.

What happens at a club?
At the club sessions, young people use free, step-by-step project guides specially created by us. Club organisers provide support to help the young people progress through our projects, to create games, animations, and web pages using Scratch, Python, or HTML/CSS.

We provide free resources
Our projects are step-by-step guides that help young people to make their own games, animations, and websites with code.
The projects introduce coding concepts one by one and let young people progressively build their knowledge. Adults running the clubs don’t need to be experienced coders, and many volunteers in our community enjoy learning coding alongside their club members.
Club leaders and volunteers can access lots of useful resources, such as downloadable certificates and posters, and our team provides help and support through online workshops, community events, and an online help desk.
