Granta Design - the materials information technology experts.
Granta develops and delivers materials software, materials data, and materials database solutions that help leading engineering enterprises to improve quality, innovation, and efficiency, while reducing risk and cost.
Granta’s technology and expertise originate in Cambridge University Engineering Department and the work of Professors Mike Ashby and David Cebon. Since 1994 Granta has built on these foundations through extensive industry partnerships. The company has grown steadily to become the largest organization in the world dedicated solely to the niche area of materials information technology - tools to manage, access, and apply information about the materials (metals, composites, plastics, ceramics) that are central to many engineering activities. Key partners include ASM International (the world’s largest professional society for materials engineering), Cambridge Enterprise, and three industry consortia - collaborative projects that drive Granta's development work in each of the following areas:
- Managing mission-critical materials data in sectors such as aerospace, energy, and medical devices. Materials Data Management Consortium members include Boeing, GE - Aviation, GE - Energy, Honeywell, NASA, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and Rolls-Royce
- Materials selection, substitution, and cost optimization in manufacturing enterprises. Materials Strategy Consortium members include Emerson Electric, Moen, and TRW Automotive
- Design for environmental objectives and regulations. Members of the Environmental Materials Information Technology (EMIT) Consortium – EADS Astrium, Emerson Electric, Eurocopter, Honeywell, NASA, and Rolls-Royce
The next generation of engineers are also active users of Granta technology via the Granta educational business. This is based on CES EduPack - a unique combination of software, information resources, and other teaching resources, now used to support materials and process education across a wide range of engineering, science, processing, and design disciplines at 000 universities and colleges worldwide.
Granta is a Cambridge success story. We are growing year-on-year, profitable, and continuing to develop innovative technology that delivers real business value to our customers - increasing product performance, safety, and quality, while reducing cost and environmental impact.
A unique PC-based software product supporting systematic selection of materials for engineering applications.
GRANTA MI is the leading system for materials information management in engineering enterprises.
The world-leading teaching resource for materials in engineering, science, processing, and design. Now used at over 700 universities and colleges worldwide.
Granta Design issues an open invitation to its informal and fun Open House Evening, taking place tomorrow (Tuesday 21 November) from 6.30pm at its Cambridge office on Clifton Road. The no-cost event offers the opportunity to explore what life is like at a growing company with top engineering customers (e.g. Rolls-Royce, NASA, Boeing, Jaguar Land Rover) and a highly skilled multi-cultural team.
