Why Mental Health?
Mental health is central to our general state of health and performance in all aspects of life but it is an area which is often neglected and misunderstood.
In the U.K:
- In any year, one in four people (one in six of the working population) experience a diagnosable mental health issue
- Mental ill health is now the leading cause of sickness absence in the UK
- Three children in every classroom have a diagnosable mental health condition
- Suicides amongst our students are at record levels
Yet, mental ill health is often preventable and sustained recovery is achievable if we educate ourselves.
Mental health is a part of life in the same way as physical health yet it is often stigmatised and a lack of knowledge and confidence can delay help and recovery.
Why was Get Mental Health Training founded?
With the cost of poor mental health to the economy being between £74 and £99 billion per year, changing views and increasing skills is paramount. Learning how to take care of ourselves, support others and create lifestyles which are protective, is central to improving the health of our society.
We were founded with the specific aim of helping to bridge the gap between where we are now and where we need to be.
We teach the skills and confidence to respond, support and manage crisis and to change workplace culture for the better. Doing this does not require you to have specialist mental health knowledge but it certainly helps if your training is provided by people who do!
Drawing on our professional backgrounds, we design and deliver high quality education sessions which make full use of our clinical and managerial experience, combined with the theory and evidence base demanded by Public Health.
As well as training we provide coaching and consultancy to ensure a complete and holistic service to our clients.
