All our team are experts in particular aspects of passenger transport or in the sector as a whole. Our focus is generally on passenger transport’s interface with technology; a key to enabling commercially-successful public transport and shared-transport operations, as well as delivering significant traveller benefits, first-class intermodal networks and sustainability – our passions.
Much of our work has a focus on urban mobility - in cities and towns across the world; an area both of major challenges and of exciting and world-changing innovation.
The founder and Managing Consultant at Austin Analytics is John Austin, an expert and thought-leader in passenger and multi-modal information systems, with a background in the bus industry - planning, operations and economics. John's most recent substantive publication is the key 'Technology and Social Media issues' chapter of an international academic 'Handbook on Transport and Urban Planning in the Developed World'. His latest article is on 'Why planned mobility hubs are essential for the future success of MaaS', published in the August 2018 issue of 'Intelligent Transport'.
John is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport (FCILT), a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (FRGS), a Member of the Transport Planning Society (MTPS), and an Affiliate of the Royal Town Planning Institute. His economics degree is from Queens' College, Cambridge.
As well as involvement in European collaborative projects, both as a team member and as an independent evaluator, John has investigated multimodal transport provision in Hong Kong, Australia and Singapore as a Winston Churchill Travelling Fellow. His significant international experience also extends to Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Indonesia, where he has played key roles within bus transport development projects in major cities.
Our senior associates, like John, all have considerable experience - with most having over 20 years - which covers a range of areas of transport and mobility expertise. We work as a collaborative collective, with our respective backgrounds complementing our work and adding maturity, diverse experience, and a broad range of skills for Austin Analytics’ clients.
