BioWednesday Cambridge: Business Growth and Development of Life Sciences in the Gig Economy

The Life Sciences sector is seeing an increase in the number of people that are choosing to work as ‘independent contractors’ instead of in 9-5 employment.  This has been fueled by several factors including, lifestyle choice of experts, advances in digital technologies that allows for a more virtual workforce and a trend in companies looking for a more innovative way of finding expertise.

As the number of gig economy workers increases in the Life Sciences sector, the full benefits of having expertise in areas such as intellectual property, scale-ability, risk and governance are being realised, but we also turn our attention to the challenges it brings and what the future holds for this type of business model.

Just as the gig economy brings change to businesses moving forward, we are changing the format of this BioWednesday to incorporate a more interactive experience that will use technology to assimilate the audience’s thoughts and facilitators to guide our discussions.
