Core Patent Search Skills (CPSS) covers the essential knowledge and skills needed for successful patent searching.  Join us to acquire some essential subject search skills, find out about patent families, learn more about patent publications including the importance of dates and numbers in patent information.  Discover how to approach organisation name and inventor name searches.

CIIPM teaches the background and theory of using IPC and CPC patent classifications for search, and how to use forward and backward patent citations to find relevant documents.  We introduce iterative search techniques to broaden and narrow your search results.  Bring along your laptop to participate in our practical sessions, and gain access to professional patent search databases to practise your skills.  Model answers are available for practical search questions.
