- find out about patent families
- learn more about patent publications including the importance of dates and numbers in patent information
- discover how to approach organisation name and inventor name searches.
CIIPM teaches the background and theory of using IPC and CPC patent classifications for search, and how to use forward and backward patent citations to find relevant documents. We introduce Iterative search techniques to broaden and narrow your search results. Model answers are available for practical search questions.
The course will be most useful for those with less than two years' patent search experience, those who only search patents occasionally and/or who want to increase their knowledge of patent information and update search skills. It is suitable for Intellectual Property managers and those working in R&D, technology transfer, strategic business development and competitive intelligence roles.
