Freedom to Operate Search & Analysis - Fundamental - Oct 21

This training course provides the fundamentals required to conduct Freedom to Operate (FTO) searches.

Companies large and small need to ensure that, as far as possible, their potential product or process will not infringe any existing products or patents. In this training course we will review what is FTO, when and how to prepare for FTO searching and analysis, how to stage an FTO exercise according to the product development stage, and what you can do when your budget is limited. The course will also cover:

  • keeping a project log
  • writing up your strategy
  • how to decide the relevance of your findings
  • how to analyse the results
  • the best way to report your findings.

This course is aimed at those with some experience of patent searching who need to extend their expertise in freedom to operate search and analysis. We recommend that attendees have undertaken CIIPM’s Core Patent Search Skills training or a similar course.

The course is provided online over two afternoon sessions of 1.5 hours. Registration costs £190 + VAT for both sessions, course manual and certificate of attendance. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and consider specific topics in more detail. Book your place on Eventbrite.
