About the Speaker

Jeremy is a physicist and engineer who has made valuable contributions to the development of plastic - or organic - electronics. His work on the science of semiconducting polymers and molecules, as well as their diverse applications, has enabled the growth of numerous new technologies. The discovery of this previously unknown form of electroluminescence led to the foundation of Cambridge Display Technology where, as Chief Technology Officer, Jeremy has been responsible for numerous technology innovations, including the direct printing of full-colour OLED displays. Jeremy has been widely recognised for his high-impact work, and in 2009 was made a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In 2002, he was one of the winners of the academy’s prestigious MacRobert Award, and he shared the 2005 Society for Information Display’s Jan Rajchman Prize for his discovery of polymer LEDs.

About the Company

Cambridge Display Technology (CDT) pioneered the development of polymer (organic) light emitting diode (P-OLED) technology and its use in electronic displays and lighting.

CDT was spun out in 1992 from the Cavendish Laboratory at the University of Cambridge, and floated on the NASDAQ National Market in 2004. CDT became part of Sumitomo Chemical in 2007.

Following the acquisition, CDT focused its efforts on getting P-OLED technology ready for market.

They successfully completed the development of printable OLED materials and transferred the technology to Sumitomo Chemical for large scale manufacturing and commercialisation.

Innovation Seminar Series

The joint NanoDTC-Impulse-Maxwell Innovation Seminar Series has a series of brilliant speakers who are at different stages in their Innovation and Entrepreneurship journey.

We are delighted to welcome Jeremy to this month's Innovation Seminar Talk.

The Maxwell Centre is the centrepiece for industrial engagement with the physical scientists and engineers working on the West Cambridge Science and Technology Campus.
