Ellie Breeze, Denise Kehoe and Ary Hilfiker talk about how they formed as an art collective following the completion of their MAs at ARU, and how this then led to running the Motion Sickness Project Space in Cambridge, UK.

Three ARU alumni, Ellie Breeze, Denise Kehoe and Ary Hilfiker talk about how they formed as an art collective following the completion of their MAs at ARU, and how this then led to running the Motion Sickness Project Space in Cambridge, UK. They discuss the practicalities of running a space as well as their vision for the gallery. They also talk about Motion Sickness Playdates, the series of artist network events they ran in 2019 and how you can start your own projects.

During the event you will have an opportunity to ask Ellie, Denise and Ary questions and discuss your ideas with them.

Speakers:

Ellie Breeze is an artist living and working in Cambridge. In 2016 she completed an MA in Fine Art at Cambridge School of Art. The same year, she was shortlisted for the Marmite Prize for Painting V. In 2017, she exhibited in the Bloomberg New Contemporaries exhibition, which toured to BALTIC and BALTIC 39 in Newcastle and Block 336 in London. Other exhibitions have included Emergency 2017 at Aspex Gallery, and Bloc Projects Members’ Show 2018 at Bloc Projects, Sheffield. Most recently she has shown work at Kettle's Yard in Cambridge and at MK Gallery in Milton Keynes.

Denise Kehoe lives and works in Cambridge. Denise completed an MA in Illustration and Book Arts at ARU. Selected achievements include: Neu/Now artists Elia NXT (Estonia), The Term Painting.. (KT Contemporary, Dublin), This is Conceptual (Solo: Cork city), Mondays and Thursdays are Burnable Rubbish (Solo: Tokyo, Japan), Yabai (Solo show and residency: Hokkaido, Japan), and Blockchain (residency and symposium: Winchester School of Art). She has been the recipient of a number of awards including the Art Trail graduate award, the CIT Presidents award, and the CIT purchase prize.

Ary Hilfiker is an artist living and working Leipzig, Germany. Ary completed an MA in Illustration and Book Arts at ARU. Selected achievements include: Pilotenkueche 36th round (Leipzig, Germany), Masters: Relief Prints (Bankside Gallery, London), Absence and Presence: Al-Muttanabi Street Starts Here (touring exhibition, UK, USA, Australia and Europe), Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair 2018, 2017 (London), Print International (Mansers in Shrewsbury). She has been Artist in residence at Frans Masereel Centrum (Kasterlee, Belgium) and was also the recipient of the Sanguine Studio Prize, Mark Wood Art and Design Scholarship.
