Background and job purpose

This position provides an exciting opportunity to develop your understanding of finance and its role in a global FTSE 100 organisation. You will take on real and interesting work that will both challenge and inspire you.
We will allow you to develop your skills across various departments within the finance division here in Cambridge.

We will help you understand the role of finance in the organisation and to develop skills in accounting, use of finance systems and reporting.

You will experience a number of areas of finance, for example:

UK ledger accounting
Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
Finance Systems and Data
Finance Operations (understanding systems, processes and controls)
Group Accounting (consolidations, group results and statutory accounts)
You will experience both the day to day finance activities and ongoing projects such as system and reporting changes.

Skills & Qualifications:

•Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
•Highly numerate with the aptitude to spot trends and exceptions within data sets
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint particularly Excel with demonstrable knowledge of all common functions and formulae
•Team Player, comfortable in taking direction and guidance
•Ability to solve problems
•Ability to build strong working relationships
•Organised and structured in approach to activities with excellent attention to detail
•Able to plan and cope with planned and unplanned activities in order to meet immoveable reporting deadlines
•Proactive, with the ability to work both with and without close supervision
•The sensitivity and trust to work discreetly with confidential employee and market-sensitive information
•Preference for some accounting knowledge or background, with an interest in pursuing an accounting qualification

There is no requirement for an undergraduate degree, although a relevant degree demonstrating either analytical ability or accounting knowledge would be of benefit.
