Graduate Mechanical Engineer 2020

We are looking for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer to join our team after graduating in 2020. It’s exciting and challenging work alongside technical experts who have a passion for what they do, and you’ll be given real responsibility from day one. 

Your role will see you developing mechanical designs for a range of products and processes in the consumer, healthcare, industrial and energy sectors. You will be involved in all aspects of product development - from concept, to analysis, to prototype design and transfer to manufacture.

You will join a collaborative working environment where you will have the support of an experienced team and you can expect to develop your technical skills and gain an understanding of new fields of science and technology. You'll join our Graduate Development Programme and benefit from the support of an allocated mentor, a mix of training which will focus on consultancy and soft skill development, on the job learning to help you grow technically, and the support to achieve chartership.

This role will be based in our Cambridge office and there may also be an opportunity for international travel to a variety of client sites. About You:

  • 1st or 2:1 degree in Mechanical Engineering from a leading university and demonstrate the first principles of this subject including a broad understanding of mechanisms, materials, stress and strain analysis, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, design, and manufacturing processes.
  • Eager with a can-do attitude 
  • Communication is key in this role. You will need to present your ideas and conclusions to stakeholders from technical and non-technical backgrounds
  • Analytical and innovative capabilities 
  • Determined drive to rapidly absorb and develop skills in a wide range of engineering disciplines 
  • Some commercial awareness is an advantage 
  • Able to work collaboratively to short timescales whilst maintaining an excellent attention to detail 
  • Be self-motivated and accustomed to getting on with tasks with a thirst for new technologies and using the best tools for the job 
  • Bright, conscientious and creative
