Windows Systems Administrator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented and experienced Windows Systems Administrator to join our growing team at RealVNC.

The company

RealVNC is a highly successful software company based in Cambridge (UK) city centre. As the original developers of VNC remote-access technology our software is used by hundreds of millions of users worldwide from the non-technical home user to IT professionals from global companies, such as Intel, IBM, NASA, DreamWorks, Qualcomm and Philips.  We have immediate, significant expansion plans and are looking for an experienced, talented Systems Administrator to join our team.

The role

Our systems team is expanding, and we’re looking for an experienced Windows Systems Administrator to manage and support our development, test and production Windows servers. Reporting to the Technical Operations Manager, you’ll be a vital part of a fast-paced team, working to ensure that our business critical systems remain operational at all times.  You’ll manage configuration documentation and operational run-books, whilst working closely with other members of the systems team to resolve technical issues. You’ll also support and maintain Active Directory, Exchange and related services (incl. DNS, DHCP, Certificate Services). This role offers fantastic opportunities to expand your professional career working with the inventors of VNC technology on world-class solutions. 

You

  • have demonstrable experience of administering Windows servers (physical and virtual) in a production environment, including the following core technologies:
    • Microsoft Windows Server (2003, 2008, 2012), Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, DNS, Certificate Services, Exchange Server (ideally 2013)
  • have a solid grasp of networking fundamentals including firewall configuration
  • are keen to develop your knowledge of different technologies and can work effectively both individually and as part of a team

Anything else?

As well as the above, if you have experience with any of the following technologies, then we’d like to know about it!

  • VMWare vSphere
  • Exchange resilience and disaster recovery
  • Microsoft System Centre 2012 (Configuration Manager, Data Protection Manager)
  • NAS and/or SAN storage
  • Linux (RHEL 4+, Ubuntu 8.0.4+, CentOS 5+, Debian 5+)

It’s a full-time post, but we believe in a healthy work / life balance, so it’s 35 hours per week (Monday – Friday). Please bear in mind that the team also provides out-of-hours support, meaning there’s an additional on-call element requiring you to be available 24/7 on rotation.
