The Translational Pathology laboratory delivers good clinical practice (GCP) compliant biomarker analysis of clinical samples from patients enrolled in AZ oncology studies to support AZ oncology drug development.  The laboratory has from 15 to 20 permanent scientists on staff representing a broad range of backgrounds and expertise and delivers data generated either in-house or through externalized work packages with contract labs and academic collaborative partners.

As senior administrator you will be responsible for co-ordinating and tracking project scheduling of the lab staff including active monitoring of resource allocation with respect to project demand.  You will also ensure the lab maintains regulatory compliance with the relevant aspects of GCP and the human tissue act (HTA).  You will have accountability for budgeting and time-management of internal and out-sourced workflows.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all aspects of GCP and HTA compliance
  • Ensures the production of reports or analyses summarizing Translational Pathology resource and activities
  • Monitors performance, identifying any issues regarding team delivery, and resolves all complex issues relating to delivery of designated tasks and projects
  • Oversees workflow management
  • Supports new hire onboarding for team members
  • Provides specialist project based administrative support when required
  • Process and input expenses and invoices, highlighting over-spend and under-spend when appropriate
  • Maintain and update the leave and absence records for the department
  • Mentor staff and flag additional opportunities for improving group ways of working
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is suitably maintained and regulatorily compliant
  • Curate and maintain systems for information sharing in the laboratory, e.g. Microsoft OneNote, Sharepoint etc.

Required skills and experience:

  • Significant prior multi-project management experience is essential.  Direct prior experience in a laboratory setting is highly desirable
  • Detailed knowledge of GCP and HTA requirements and compliance is highly desirable
  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks/assignments simultaneously and effectively in an environment of adaptively shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated skills and ability in PC applications
  • Ability to concisely communicate findings and tailor messaging suitably for delivery to a wide diversity of stakeholders
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building skills
