Simulation Specialist Leader

As a Simulation Specialist Leader working within our multidisciplinary teams, you will be responsible for developing mathematical and computational models to simulate performance of a range of products and processes in the healthcare, consumer, and industrial sectors. Your role will offer you the opportunity to use your technical knowledge to deliver innovative solutions to our clients challenging projects.   • 1st or 2:1 master’s degree in engineering, physics, maths. A post graduate qualification in numerical or computational simulation would be highly advantageous
  • Excellent core mathematics skills with extensive experience of application to science and engineering problems, ideally within a product development environment
  • Extensive and diverse experience: developing mathematical models from scratch and rigorous approach to implementing in bespoke algorithms developing computational models; assessing suitability and confidence of mathematical and computational models to make performance predictions; in one or more of the following fields; fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, optics, electromagnetics, static and dynamic mechanics 
  • A flexible and confident approach to explore and navigate new fields from first principles
  • Proficiency in OpenFOAM is essential. Familiarity with open-source toolsets such as Elmer or Fenics would also be advantageous. Experience in COMSOL would be beneficial. 
  • Proficiency in bespoke algorithm, script and model development in languages such as Python, Matlab, Scilab or equivalent
  • Experience of the use of cloud computing tools and resources would be advantageous
  • An ability to communicate clearly and concisely to colleagues and clients the technical details of a model, and how and where it can be applied
  • A commercial awareness gained in one of the following environments: technical/design consultancy; technology start-up; new product development department
