ICT DevOps Engineer

Role and responsibilities

Due to continued Company growth, our ICT team have a new position for an ICT DevOps Engineer. This role will have a focus on the implementation and operation of key systems used by our consultants to deliver client projects. Split between directly supporting our client projects and building, automating and supporting new platforms and tools, this is a varied role and will involve everything from daily system administration through to complex configuration of validated software systems. The role will work closely with the:

  • Project managers and consultants to configure and integrate our systems for specific client project requirements. Advising teams on how to get the most out of the platform;
  • Director of Business Systems and Change and the Business Change Project Manager to understand requirements, develop specifications, configure platforms for specific business processes or projects, and create test criteria;
  • ICT Project and Service Delivery Manager to implement and support common platforms for our business;
  • ICT Service Desk Manager and service desk team, to support systems as they transition from implementation to support, and be ready to respond to 2nd and 3rd line support tickets.

Exposure and training will be provided to develop deep skills in core toolsets, as well as learn project management, business analysis and system design skills.

 

The key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Business Systems Projects

  • Configuration of tools such as JIRA, Bitbucket,Jenkins, Python and other scripting tools for client projects
  • Configuration of document management systems
  • Finding solutions to fit business requirements
  • Looking for areas of improvement, and driving through developments within current systems or processes
  • Pragmatic and risk averse approach towards projects and centralised system changes
  • Testing and piloting new technologies
  • Designing and documenting the design of new systems
  • Implementation and configuration of line-of-business SharePoint sites, with workflows, custom forms and data migration
  • Developing PowerBI and analytics solutions for operations and project managers.

Support

  • Supporting the internal and external customer base for their specific client project requirements
  • Prioritisation and ownership of issues and requests
  • Communication of progress with users, including presenting at company meetings
  • Troubleshoot system related issues
  • Support to both onsite and remote users (home and overseas)
  • Working with external suppliers
  • Monitoring and maintaining critical business systems
  • Document processes and procedures
  • Continuous improvement of tools and end user solutions.

Building excellent working relationships and collaborating with both internal and external users from a broad range of technical backgrounds is a key aspect of this role, through face to face interaction and through being visible around the business.

You will need to possess an extremely high level of attention to detail and have a keen eye for continuous improvement opportunities for our processes, systems, service and delivery.

This role will require flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary, in order to minimise disruption to users and support business continuity.

Technical/research skills

Essential

  • Configuration of systems for business users, and 2nd/3rd line support for key systems
  • Recognised IT Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for ICT implementations
  • 3+ years experience of implementing and supporting ICT solutions
  • Analysing user behaviour and capturing requirements
  • Exposure to many of the following technologies:
    • Windows 10
    • Software development tools such as JIRA ,Bitbucket, Jenkins and other scripting tools
    • Infrastructure provisioning tools such as Puppet
    • Cloud technologies – AWS Deployment
    • Office 365 server-side components including SharePoint
    • Document Management systems
    • Azure and/or AWS Cloud Technologies

Desirable

  • Educated to Degree level or above
  • Good presentation skills
  • Providing training for end-users on ICT systems
  • Experience of both waterfall and Agile approaches
  • Exposure to documentation requirements for GxP validation of systems
  • Building solutions in Office 365 server-side components with Flow, PowerApps, PowerBI
  • Migration of data from legacy environments into Sharepoint
