An excellent opportunity has arisen to play a key part in the Procurement Team with a specific responsibility for Category Management. You will be expected to actively participate, advise and support procurement activity in the nominated category using the seven steps of strategic sourcing model.
Category Manager - Procurement
Key responsibilities include tender preparation and management through the full procurement cycle, financial reporting of savings and other spend data, contract and supplier management and supporting the Senior Category Manager as required in all aspects of Category Management. You will also support the Head of Procurement with data and feedback on your category as required.
The role holder also acts as a key contact point for procurement activities across the University. To this end, you will maintain excellent relationships with the wider Procurement Team, counterparts in other institutions and stakeholders at all levels internally and externally, including suppliers and other relevant third party organisations as required.
Educated to degree level or equivalent and part or full CIPS qualified you will have demonstrable evidence of experience within a procurement function and will be a team player. The performance of the role will require someone with excellent analytical and organisational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, prioritise work and keep to tight deadlines. Previous experience in the University's systems would be desirable but training can be given for the right candidate. Prior knowledge of the education environment would be advantageous and Indirects experience would be desirable.
