DESCRIPTION

Often companies describe themselves as leaders in their market and able to offer features and capability that differentiate themselves from their competitors. But how often is this really the case? At Speechmatics we are no different with one major exception - it's true. But don’t just take my word for it. This is reflected by our customers, what they say about us and our product, and how we constantly beat some of the world's largest and most well-known technology providers when it comes to accuracy, deployability and feature capability. As a product marketing manager I’m challenged, encouraged and motivated every day to do my part to maintain our position at the bleeding edge of automatic speech recognition. At Speechmatics, I am given all the tools to not only succeed in my role but to take real ownership and responsibility to generate new ideas, implement them and see the results supported by amazing people throughout our organisation. Clear articulate messaging from leadership on vision and strategy, decisive action plans and the ability to contribute and be recognised for that contribution is motivating and drives a real team mentality. This solidifies Speechmatics as not only a great place to work but as a leader in technology, the speech industry and is just a great place to be.

  • Alex Fleming, Product Marketing Manager

Background

Speech technology is one of the most popular discussion items right now, yet speech interaction is limited to “Alexa, turn on the light”, or “Siri, where is the nearest coffee shop?” We are taking speech technology to the next level using our expertise in Machine Learning and speech-to-text technology to enable our partners and customers to use conversational speech recognition. Our solutions power subtitling on TV, content discovery for videos, compliance solutions in banks, improve efficiency of meetings, and many other uses. Our mission is to improve human communication with a global speech engine that works and put speech back at the heart of communication.

At Speechmatics you’ll be working with some of the smartest minds in the industry. You’ll work in an ambitious team who care about driving growth for the business while providing an outstanding experience for our customers. We’re standing alongside some of the biggest players in the world of speech and you’ll get to bring ideas to the table that will help push the boundaries of our capability.

You can enjoy benefits and perks including, share options, healthcare, life assurance, Bike Doctor, massages, Brew Dogs in the fridge, and much more. We’re building a company that truly strives to be world-leading and we’re looking for people who wholeheartedly believe they can be additive to our culture and get stuff done. If that’s you, carry on reading.

The Opportunity

With the introduction of a new product line coming, we’re looking for a product marketer to join our growing marketing team. You’ll act as expert in your product and know the market so that you can define product positioning and go-to-market plans. You’ll articulate clear value propositions for the markets we operate in and you’ll be expected to get involved in research, both quantitative and qualitative, and share that insight with the wider team. You’ll define target audiences and buyer personas, providing the sales team with insight, content and collateral that helps them at different stages of the buyer and customer journey.

As product marketer you’ll work closely with our product managers to understand the product line and what’s on the roadmap. You’ll have the opportunity to influence this based on the insight you gather, and you’ll understand customer value of releases, communicating this to both marketing and wider business. You’ll be expected to contribute relevant messaging for use in marketing activity but also for sales training and collateral. As well as product managers and sales, you’ll work with wider marketing to ensure we’re positioning our product correctly and consistently across both our digital and traditional channels and contribute to both content and communication plans; owners of marketing channels will provide advice and recommendations as experts in their domains and together we’ll run campaigns that demonstrate credibility, value, and leadership in the market to drive business growth.

Because you’ll be joining an expanding team and Speechmatics is rapidly changing, you’ll need to be a team player, work collaboratively, and take change in your stride. Ask lots of questions, bring ideas to the table and be prepared to learn and get stuck into whatever is needed at any given time. Key to success in this role will be your balance of technical and commercial skills, not being afraid of data, and a willingness to get stuck in to get stuff done.

You should have an enthusiasm for technology and, due to the technical nature of our product, it would be beneficial if you’ve worked in a marketing role in a software or technology company. However, this isn’t strictly necessary so long as you’re able to prove your ability to ‘get it’.
