Product Definition Engineer

Are you a self-starter with knowledge and experience in writing interface specifications, alongside management and tracking in an agile environment? Sepura are hiring a Product Definition Engineer to work within the Product Definition Team to detail functionality of Sepura's products for a wide variety of commercially important projects

You will work with Product Managers, Senior Development Engineers, and the wider business to:

  • Understand feature, product, and system requirements and constraints, and in doing so help clarify production functionality and the scope of projects
  • Develop the requirements and associated use cases to create a definition of product and feature functionality
  • Document and maintain product and feature specifications using descriptive English

You will be the custodian of the developed requirements, disseminate them to stakeholders throughout the organisation, and become one of the go-to knowledge experts on product and featuer functionality for your area as well as assisting Product Owners to create user stories and acceptance criteria and to understand user story interdependencies

In time you may be asked to use the product, people and market knowledge you have gained at Sepura to provide product ownership in addition to product definition

Skills & Experience


As an ideal candidate for this role, you will have experience of the following

  • Requirements elicitation, management and tracking in an Agile environment
  • Writing descriptive functional specifications using written English
  • Writing interface specifications
  • Ground-up product development in embedded C and/or in Android service layer
  • Layered wireless communications protocols such as P25, TETRA, GSM, UMTS, LTE
  • Related products and technologies such as wireless connectivity, USB, WiFi, Bluetooth
  • Working in a flexible Agile project-based environment
  • Agile product ownership using Scrum


  • Security concepts and technologies, for example, encryption, authentication and key management
  • Customer-facing experience and/or experience of working with customer or sales support teams
