Sales, Marketing & Business Support Executive

The salary for this role is: £15,000 - £30,000 subject to experience, plus discretionary bonus & benefits below

This is a new role in the company and covers a range of activities. The purpose of the position is to continue to maintain an excellent service for customers and potential customers, and to free up more time for the Business Director and Senior Engineers. You will report to the Business Director and work closely with the Senior Engineers and others in the company such as engineers and the Management Team. 

Tasks include activities in areas such as sales, traditional marketing, digital marketing and business support. 

The position will suit either an experienced individual or someone keen to develop experience in sales, marketing and business support. The right candidate will be a quick learner with a keen willingness to support others, a positive attitude, and be organised.  

The Role

Key activities of the role include:

  • Communicating with customers, potential customers and Huxley Bertram personnel

  • Sales Opportunity Pipeline support, including:

  • business support for new business opportunities, such as administrating client requirements with company quotations, proposals and discussions
  • new sales order acceptance processing

  • Management of client contact database (currently Zoho CRM)

  • Marketing support including the creation of marketing literature, applying for awards, creating and organising videos and photographs  

  • Digital marketing support including: website management (Wordpress site), google analytics, newsletters (on Mailchimp),customer surveys (Survey Monkey), google-ads, Linkedin

  • Coordinating recruitment

  • Coordinating IT requirements

  • Administrating commercial agreements

  • Administrating Premium Support contracts

  • Other support tasks, as required


The requirements of the right candidate are deliberately flexible. This position will suit an experienced individual who hits the ground running on many fronts, particularly marketing activities. Alternatively inexperienced candidates with right attitude will also be considered. A number of attributes are listed below:

  • Fast learning, positive attitude and willingness to support are all essential 

  • Good literacy and numeracy skills are important

  • Being organised is important

  • Good computer literacy and MS Office skills are important

  • A good people manner and telephone manner are important

  • A technical background would be beneficial

  • Experience in working in sales, marketing or business support would be beneficial

  • Familiarity with services such as Google Analytics, Wordpress, Survey Monkey, Mailchimp and Evernote would be beneficial

  • Relevant qualification would be beneficial

Reports To: Business Director


Huxley Bertram has two factories in Waterbeach and Cottenham, both near Cambridge. The main factory and offices are in Waterbeach and this is where this role is primarily located. 


The expected remuneration is as follows:

  • Salary: £15,000 - £30,000 subject to experience, plus discretionary bonus & benefits below

  • Flexible working hours (Mon-Fri): 40 hours per week, core time 0930 to 1530

  • 28 days including Bank Holidays, plus, discretionary holidays over the Christmas period

  • Pension

  • Critical Illness and Death in Service insurances
