The role

Cambridge Enterprise bridges the worlds of academia and industry and attracts top minds to work within an outcome-focused, collaborative, dynamic and highly autonomous environment.  The Commercialisation Manager role leads on the development and commercialisation of a diverse portfolio of innovations through licensing and spin-out creation.  Working with world class academics, funders, licensees and investors, the role supports the commercialisation of cutting-edge technologies and the next great ideas, to help these discoveries make a difference in the world.  Our Physical Sciences team finds the breadth of scientific diversity and applications both stimulating and engaging.

Your skills

We are seeking a candidate with a background in material science, physical/inorganic chemistry, physics or engineering, preferably evidenced by a PhD, with a broad interest in science and technology innovation. Also key is experience in a commercial environment, together with proven skills in business development and in commercialisation of technologies relying on disruptive intellectual property. Ideally we are also looking for knowledge and understanding of the University sector.

Our ideal candidate has excellent organisational skills and can handle and prioritise a portfolio of projects on an ongoing basis. They are an exceptional communicator, team worker and negotiator. A demonstrable track record of commercial transactions and knowledge of intellectual property is desirable.

This senior position requires the ability to handle a wide variety of technical and business contexts, and to guide, mentor and influence people at any level.
