Senior Materials Controller

Job Description

Due to an internal progression within the organisation, we have a new opportunity for a Senior Materials Controller to join our busy Supply Chain team within MADG.  This challenging role within a dynamic MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) environment encompasses multiple end to end supply chain activities pivotal to the fundamental success of the Aerospace Business Stream.

Acting as the primary information ‘Subject Matter Expert’ for Supply Chain into and out of the Aerospace Operation, ensuring that all relevant stakeholders are kept up to date. The main duties associated with the role are:-

  • Management of Demand and Associated Information Flow whilst supporting functional stakeholders and customers.
  • Main point of contact to Operational Hangars
  • Effective communication of operational requirements being accountable for the Supply Chain Alignment of resources and efficiency.
  • Input into the Inventory Strategy - ensuring alignment with current and future business needs.
  • Determining and understanding obsolescence and outdated practices in the Supply Chain mitigating any associated risk.
  • Provide support and guidance to the procurement team on material/component alignment being the first point of contact for escalation.
  • Take an active role in Operational meetings managing the expectations of key stakeholders as to issues and strategies to support this function.

This role will also look closely at Supplier Development and liaising with Procurement to provide appropriate input to aid the:

  • Better collaboration with our suppliers to ensure continued success and development.
  • Develop appropriate and effective KPIs to measure performance
  • Continue to measure the alignment and success of the Supply Chain.
  • Facilitating the supply of components and materials to the point of demand
  • Determination of appropriate mitigation of risk through agreed "Root Cause Analysis" and associated action planning.
  • Communication of effective forward visibility in terms of forecasts, stocking policy and other associate tasks.

  • Ideally Degree in a an relative subject - i.e.Business Management, Supply Chain, CIPS
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role within MRO or Manufacturing
  • Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
  • Good Commercial understanding
  • A demonstrable background in Procurement/Planning role 
  • Positive and proactive attitude to work
  • Ability to make decisions, either alone or as part of team
  • Good negotiation skills at all levels of the Business
  • Aptitude for learning and development
  • Analytical with the ability to manipulate and assess data to provide a useable framework for decision making

Due to the nature of our business, all employment is subject to satisfactory references being obtained, attainment of either a SC (Security Check), Disclosure Scotland Criminal Record Check or Foreign Police Check (whichever is applicable depending on duration of UK residency) and, as applicable, a medical assessment. Access to US technical data by employees requires prior Trade Control function approval. Clearance must be carried out against all applicable US export control authorisations.
