Broadband Programme Manager

As Broadband Programme Manager at Sepura, you will take ownership and responsibility for delivering our exciting new broadband programme solutions on time, to quality and to budget while meeting programme requirements and stakeholders expectations. Using experience to enhance the current processes to ensure the business can move into the broadband environment as quickly and efficiently as possible

You will report to the Head of Projects ensuring all the constituent projects and programme elements are aligned and focused to deliver programme solutions that met organisational and customer expectations: These will include:

  • Hardware project deliverables
  • Software project deliverables
  • Integration and System test and validation 
  • Field trial deliverables
  • Formal conformance and regulatory approvals
  • Delivery of products into volume production 

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing and coordinating project deliverables and interdependencies to meet programme expectations and deliverables through the complete product lifecycle from requirements capture into production
  • Contributing to and supporting the development and maintenance of programme processes to complement existing project management processes
  • Working effectively with Product Managers, Product Owners and Resource Managers to ensure delivery against agreed priorities, meeting current and future user needs
  • Implementing mechanisms to monitor, manage and provide progress on programme activities and budgetary spend and forecasts at a rolled-up programme level
  • The on-time, to cost and to quality delivery of broadband programmes
  • Leading programme budget forecasting, estimation and control
  • Proactively identifying and managing risks across the broadband programmes
  • Managing projects that are constituent parts of the programme as required

Sepura is part of a global organisation and hence occasional travel may be required. Additional duties may arise on a seasonal or ad hoc basis, or as the business requires



  • Most applicants for this role would have started their careers with a Bachelor's University degree, in electronics/mechanical engineering, computer science, or another field of engineering/science


  • A Bachelor's University degree, ideally in engineering or computer science, although other formal academic qualifications would be considered based on experience



This role suits someone with extensive and demonstrable programme and project management experience (at least 10 years relevant) in an SME type manufacturing environment

  • Project & Programme Management
    The candidate will come from a project and programme development background with extensive experience of managing complex technology programmes incorporating both hardware and software development projects 
  • Broad Functional Teams
    Experience shall include managing programmes containing complex technologies (hardware and software), deliveries from which provide mission critical (or similar) solutions
  • Stakeholder Management
    An experienced stakeholder manager will be able to communicate at all organisational levels from junior engineers to senior managers, understanding and delivering against their expectations. Be prepared to escalate impacts/delays to senior stakeholders in a timely manner
  • People Management
    Extensive experience of motivating teams and individuals to deliver
  • Team Building
    Proven track record of building and motivating teams and bringing new capabilities and experience to the project management team


  • Communications Networks
    Experience working with commercial LTE/5G (or similar) network operators demonstrating an understanding of the approval process needed to successfully introduce product solutions
  • Enterprise Software
    Experience integrating enterprise software solutions into communications systems including but not limited to cloud-based applications
  • Mission Critical Solutions
    An understanding of mission critical systems and the associated expectations of solution performance
  • Commercial Awareness
    Experience of working in a cost sensitive manufacturing environment and applying financial acumen and business cases to drive priorities. Reasonable understanding of P&Ls
  • Decision Making
    Able to demonstrate examples of taking responsibility for making pragmatic business decisions

    Experience of multi-site/multi-cultural operation

The candidate should be able to demonstrate a track record in setting and managing priorities, articulating and gaining engagement for ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and the ability to motivate in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Process & Tools
    A thorough understanding of hardware and software development processes and tools (both Waterfall & Agile) including elements such as:
    - Project/Programme schedule planning
    - Risk/Opportunity tools (Jira or similar)
    - Technical Document Management
    - Cost estimation tools
  • Communication
    Strong, confident communicator with a proven ability to communicate in a variety of formats at all levels with an appreciation of target audience
