As a Principal Engineer, you will have demonstrable experience taking technical responsibilities and ownership for work package delivery, as well as taking a leading design role, and mentoring less Senior Engineers within the team

Digital Baseband Hardware Design Engineer
Main duties:
- Requirements analysis and elicitation including liaison with stakeholders
- Technical design and specification of digital baseband circuitry for radio terminal products
- Complete subsystem design and implementation, including ownership
- Integration with RF, Audio and MMI subsystems
- Component specification and sourcing
- Design, integration and test documentation
- Definition, implementation and supervision of PCB layout rules and constraints - Resolution of design and integration issues
- Interaction with the Software team at device driver level (especially during bring-up phases)
- Type approval support
- Production technical support
- Technical support to end customers
- Progress reporting to project team and line manager
The role will require the candidate to achieve UK Security Clearance
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in relevant field
Skills & Experience
Essential:
- Minimum 12 years' electronics design experience
- Experience with application processor designs in the GHz clock range
- Experience with high speed memory subsystems design and integration
- Experience with high speed processor digital interfaces (e.g. MIPI CSI,DSI, USB3.x, etc.)
- Experience with high speed board level subsystems design and integration (e.g. Gbps Ethernet switches/phy USB3.0 fabric, PCle, etc.)
- Experience with applications processors power domains design and integration (e.g. PMIC design)
- Experience with signal and power integrity simulation tools (e.g. Hyperlynx, Sigrity, ADS, etc.)
- Strong background of signal and power integrity design at PCB layout level
- Experience interacting with Software teams at the device driver level
- Efficient circuit design for handheld battery powered products
- Design for EMC/ESD protection
- Design for Manufacturing and Test
Desirable:
- Experience with TI OMAP application processors
- Experience with Qualcomm Snapdragon application processors
- Intrinsically safe product design
- Design work relating to radio products
- Power supply design (analogue and SMPS)
- Knowledge of scripting using Python
- Experience with Mentor DX designer
- Understanding of Analogue design and circuit simulation
- Experience of using Lithium Polymer batteries
- Design for medium volume product manufacture
- Awareness of analogue electronics and RF
