Development Manager

As Development Manager, you will be responsible for the technical direction, practices and standards across the Plant 3D software development team. Your passion for modern software development practices will help further and maintain technical excellence in the AVEVA E3D Design product.

In this role you will:

• Provide line management for the Plant 3D Software Engineers. Mentor, train and otherwise support the professional development of team members.

• Provide input on hiring or training plans for the Plant 3D team, based on skills and knowledge in the team, career development and succession plans.

• Alongside Product Owners and Scrum Masters, participate in Scrum activities such as sprint planning, backlog maintenance, stand up meetings, and sprint reviews.

• Ensure software changes are effectively planned and delivered on time, feature complete and written to agreed quality standards. Ensure all code is peer reviewed, unit tested and documented as appropriate.

• Participate in problem solving. Provide advice and feedback on architecture, software design, and coding standards.

• Assist with supplying budgetary figures, development ideas, solution designs and resource estimates to the Program Delivery Manager and Heads of Product to support new projects and annual corporate planning.
 

Qualifications

• You have experience of leading, managing and coaching an agile software development team.

• You have hands-on technical experience of developing software in an Object-Oriented language. You have practiced requirements capture, software design, implementation to coding standards, unit testing, code review, and delivery to users. You have used source code management tools such as mercurial or git.

• You have demonstrated excellent communication and relationship management skills with team members, peers, and senior leadership. Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

• A degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering or another STEM subject.

• Experience of using agile project management tools such as Jira, TFS or ADO, or manage and report on team workloads.

• Experience of developing Computer-Aided Design or Computer-Aided Engineering applications, Windows desktop software, or computer graphics software.

• Working knowledge of the Microsoft .NET development framework.

• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
