This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and adaptable individual to support delivery of high quality innovative science. As an advanced research assistant, you will:
- Perform histology based assays
- Deliver high quality results from Spatial Genomic assays
- Collaborate closely with faculty groups within the institute to deliver projects
- Contribute to troubleshooting and process improvements in particular focusing on imaging and/or molecular aspects of the process (dependent on experience)
You will have relevant imaging and or molecular biology experience with an analytical mind. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are essential to foster a collaborative environment with us and our customers.
The team works closely to support each other in delivering results. You should be process driven with an eye for detail. You will be provided with the appropriate training for you to fulfil your role.

About the Research
We are a core research group, responsible for providing histology based resource and expertise to the wider Institute. We do this by processing Spatial Genomics samples across multiple projects for faculty teams across the Sanger Institute. Our current focus is Spatial Genomics associated with the Human Cell Atlas Initiative. Our role is to support the Institute in its aims and for that, we continually strive to remain at the forefront of cutting edge research. Namely translating academic research into large-scale projects, which push the boundaries of our understanding, allowing the Sanger to remain a world leader in genome research.

- Degree in Biological Sciences, or equivalent (minimum 2 years experience)
- Extensive histology experience related to imaging or molecular assays
- Proven process improvement/troubleshooting ability
- Ability to keep good up-to-date records with attention to detail
- Ability to test and implement new approaches and techniques into new SOPs
- Ability to work to a schedule and successfully manage and prioritise multiple competing tasks
- Proven experience of working within a team
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Experience working with RNAscope or Spatial Transcriptomic methods
- Experience working with human tissue samples / Human Tissue Act
- Experience of training others
