Genomics Training Lead - Band 7

The East NHS Genomic Laboratory Hub (GLH) is one of seven GLHs established to provide the new national NHS Genomic Medicine Service. Led by Cambridge University Hospitals, working with Nottingham University Hospitals and University Hospitals of Leicester, the East GLH offers high quality genomics services for a population of 10 million, including diagnostic tests for inherited disorders and cancer, predictive and pharmacogenomic testing.

The East GLH lead laboratory has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Training Manager. Reporting to and working closely with the Genomics Laboratory Manager and the Education & Training Lead, you will lead training and education activities for all laboratory staff. You will manage programmes supporting HCPC and AHCS registration, apprenticeships and higher level training, and coordinate Continuing Professional Development programmes for all staff.  You will act as a point of liaison for trainees, universities, and funders.

Responsible as GLH Training Manager in collaboration with the GLH Clinical Operations Director for all training within the laboratory environment.

Manage and develop the GLH training programme for new and current staff.

Manage staff training for the GLH in order to achieve the following: HCPC registration, the STP programme, the HSST programme, the scientist pre-registration programme, FRCPath training the IBMS higher specialist portfolio, the specialist portfolio, IBMS Certificate of Achievement for members of staff, AHCS registration, NVQ training

Lead in the organisation and implementation of the training and development for continued professional development for both state registered and non-registered staff.

Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the professional accreditation for training status of the GLH.  Responsible for documentation for the renewal of professional accreditation.
