Health and Safety Assistant

We are looking for a Health and Safety Assistant to join our team in Royston. The successful candidate will take ownership of a number of critical HSE functions. You will have strong organisational and time management skills.

As part of this growth, we are pleased to announce a brand-new position for a Health and Safety Assistant at our site in Royston.

Reporting to The HSE and Facilities Manager, you will be taking ownership across a number of critical HSE functions, including day to day assessments and advisory, maintenance the HSE database, reporting/investigating breaches and working closely with a wide variety of internal stakeholders. You would also be wholly responsible for the build out and running of our new Environmental impact management program, including energy usage, wastage, water, recycling partnerships and other environmental drivers.

What you will accomplish together with us:

  • Become the H&S expert in various disciplines

  • Attending health & safety committee meetings and taking meeting notes and following up on any assigned actions in a timely manner

  • Responsible for the follow up of Accident, Near Miss R’s and logging them on the health & safety system, investigating them, chasing any actions from assigned individuals to ensure correct closure

  • Gather and report KPIs regarding energy, waste and water usage in all Royston sites

  • Assist in waste management strategies for all Royston sites and report KPIs

  • Drive health and safety spot checks

  • To organise any H&S training required

  • Manage the COSHH system.

  • Manage the production hazard analyses system.

What will convince us:

  • IOSH managing safely/ environmental foundation willing to obtain NEBOSH certificate

  • Computer literate and highly proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams.

  • Ability to collate, interpret and analyse data

  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise diverse workload.

  • Effective organisational skills.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and present in a team environment.
