The fluorescent tags team at CDT has a requirement for a Post-Doctoral Researcher to help accelerate development of our novel, extremely bright, fluorescent tags for use in fluorescence imaging. You will be working as part of an interdisciplinary team that includes chemists, physicists, and biochemists.

Within this role you will develop and optimise assays to evaluate the suitability of novel bio-functionalised fluorescent nanoparticles in a range of end-use applications. You will also support the material development of these nanoparticles by carrying out assay work using protocols established within CDT to provide feedback on performance. This will involve collaborating with CDT’s multifunctional technical team, Intellectual Property team, and with external Open Innovation partners.

You will be adaptable, with an inquiring mind, good attention to detail, an aptitude for problem solving, and strong organisational skills. Excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are also essential for this role. You will have an excellent academic record with a PhD in a relevant biological discipline, or alternatively a relevant degree coupled with equivalent academic or industrial experience. You will also have demonstrated expertise in the development and optimisation of fluorescence-based assays for the detection of proteins or nucleic acids, and surface immobilisation techniques. Experience in working with any of characterisation of ligand-protein interactions, fluorescence-based biochemical techniques, statistical analysis methods, nanoparticles, or automation of assay workflow and data analysis would be advantageous.

This role is initially offered on a 1 year fixed term contract.
